Almost 10 years ago I was running a small construction team building state houses – around 4 to 5 a year - then I suffered a neck injury that meant I could no longer work “on the tools”
As building was the only thing I knew, I decided to set myself up to project manage jobs, rather than to do the physical work.
I realised that this would require skills outside my experience, and so I looked around for a software tool that would permit me to carry out my new vocation – and I came across Plusfactor/32 on the Web
It seemed to me to do all the things I needed – I could use it to price jobs accurately, order the supplies I required, and track the progress of my jobs against the budgets I had created with it in terms of Materials cost, Labour cost, hired Plant cost, and Subcontractor cost – and track the Labour hours too.
I took the plunge and installed it. Now almost ten years later I consider it the best business decision I have ever made. It processes my Creditors, and Subcontractor Claims – keeping tabs on variations, retentions, unapproved amounts, retentions etc.
It produces Progress Claims with the same detail, and Charge-up invoices for charge-up work – and it never misses a cent – I get paid for everything that gets keyed to a charge-up job, because the items appear automatically on the invoice.
It pays my creditors electronically, and retains all transactions permanently – so I can always look back on anything that was keyed since it was installed.
It keeps all my financial records from GST reports to Job reports to Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet – and my knowledge of the state of my business has changed from “best guesstimates” to “dead right”! I even started querying my accountants and solicitors!
Our current project is for well in excess of $10 million, and I can honestly say it would simply have been impossible without Plusfactor.
We were a “guinea pig” for PlusfactorSQL being the very first site upgraded - our offices are about 1KM from Plusfactor’s, making it easy for them to come to us when and if problems arose.
Very few did!
I give Plusfactor the “big green tick” and my personal endorsement. This is software that can be installed with confidence. It does its job very well, and just keeps getting better. The support is great, and I think the software is fantastic!
